International Festival Production at the Edge of the World

Some projects stay with you, and this was one of them. That time we took our Void Acoustics Incubus system to the Lofoten Islands, Norway, for the Midnight Sun Festival, a week-long celebration of psytrance, techno and chillout sounds held under a sky that never goes dark.

We were contacted by Sindre Haugen, Co-Founder of Creative Entertainment Solutions AS, to deliver international festival production support above the Arctic Circle. The result was one of the most logistically challenging and visually stunning events we’ve ever been part of.

Outdoor music event by International Festival Production featuring large black speakers on grass, mountains in the background, people scattered on the hillside, and a small stage under a wooden structure, all bathed in bright sunlight.

Chapter 01 BRIEF

A Journey to the Edge of the Map

An Epic Journey Across Europe

This one started long before the first beat dropped. Our equipment took an epic journey by road and ferry from the UK, winding its way through Europe and across Norway’s fjords before reaching the Lofoten Islands. Our crew followed by plane, and, for the final stretch, by helicopter. Load-ins don’t get more remote than this.

Working alongside local teams, we handled logistics and on-site deployment with military precision. Every element of the system had to perform flawlessly, despite the unpredictable coastal climate and 24-hour daylight.

Chapter 02 BUILD

Void Incubus: Power and Precision

Flagship Sound for the Main Stage

For the main stage, we deployed our flagship Void Incubus system, a true statement piece in both sound and design. Combining the Air Array mid-highs, the 4 x 15” Hyperfold upper bass and the 3 x 21” Incubus Subs, it delivered controlled, chest-hitting low-end and crystal-clear midrange detail.

The system’s silver sculpted fibreglass enclosures made an instant visual impact beneath the Arctic sun, while its acoustic performance carried the festival’s psytrance and techno sets with relentless precision. Powered by Powersoft amplifiers, the system remained effortlessly dynamic across long performance hours, maintaining depth and clarity even at high SPL.

A rustic, open-air stage by International Festival Production is set up outdoors with speakers on both sides, surrounded by rocks and grass, framed by steep rocky cliffs and a blue sky.

Great company, with audio skills beyond the normal. Highly recommended.

Chapter 03 SHOW

Second Stage: Stasys X V2 and Air Motion V2

Bespoke Coverage for Stage Two

The festival’s second stage featured a bespoke configuration of Void Stasys X V2 and Void Air Motion V2 loudspeakers.

The Stasys X V2 dual 18-inch subs provided huge, tight low-end extension, perfect for the deeper electronic sets. At the same time, the Air Motion V2 tops offered an instantly recognisable aesthetic and open, natural high-frequency performance. Together, they formed a system that balanced punch and fidelity, ideal for an outdoor dancefloor environment.

Like the main stage, this setup was powered by Powersoft amplification, chosen for its headroom, efficiency and absolute reliability in remote conditions.

Chapter 04 CHAPTER 04

Remote Doesn’t Mean Compromise

Engineered for the Arctic

Delivering international festival production this far north meant no room for error; every part of the design had to consider the Arctic environment. Cabling, rigging and signal paths were all carefully managed for stability and speed of setup.

Despite the challenges, the result was seamless: clear, powerful sound that blended perfectly with its surroundings, an immersive experience set against mountains, ocean and never-ending daylight.

Chapter 05 CHAPTER 05

A Festival Like No Other

Where Sound Meets Wilderness

The Midnight Sun Festival stands apart, a celebration of sound and nature at the edge of the world. With a lineup spanning psytrance, progressive, ambient and chillout, it draws a global crowd of artists and fans united by music and the magic of the midnight sun.

For us, it was a reminder that wherever the map ends, Neuron’s international festival production keeps going, bringing world-class sound to the most extraordinary places on earth.
