Paramount Pictures Showcase & MTV After Party at Aviva Studios
Event planners Music Alchemy entrusted Neuron AV with audio solutions and production management for Paramount’s exclusive showcase, and after-party events, held at Aviva Studios.
Recommended to the production team by a long term client and promoter, the brief was simple — crystal clear audio in three distinct but very different situations, a keynote presentation on Saturday, music in the evening, and a nightclub set up for Sunday.
We designed two systems to allow for the turnaround.
For Saturday, the client wanted a versatile system with outstanding sound quality, that didn’t impact the sight lines or affect the video content. So we opted for a Danley Sound Labs PA system with a pair of flown Danley J3-94 for FOH, Danley BC415 Boundary Cardioid Subwoofers and a pair of Danley J7-95s for delays.
The entire system is powered by the Powersoft X series with Dante and processed using Powersoft’s proprietary control software.
For mixing, we deployed an Allen & Heath dLive, the company’s most versatile offering.
The stage monitors were Martin Audio LE200, a great, compact, all-rounder with high output and consistent coverage. The event’s wireless microphones were a mix of Sennheiser, DPA and Shure for the musical artists, while keynote speakers utilised DPA headsets and lavaliers for vocal clarity.
From Saturday night into Sunday, control moved to back of house. The event was an immersive experience, so control could not be visible for that portion of the project.
For Sunday’s nightclub event, instead of a traditional theatre style layout, the DJ was positioned in the middle of the room. But rather than do a total re-rig of the PA, we managed to mask timing issues between the DJ monitors and the main PA, using some fill loudspeakers creatively placed in and around the DJ booth.
From delivering cinema-grade sound for a keynote presentation to creating an immersive nightclub experience, the team showcased our expertise and adaptability delivering an audio solution that prioritised clarity, coverage, and creative problem-solving.
Switching a venue from a corporate keynote setup to a high-energy nightclub environment in 24 hours, while significantly changing the audio design and being sensitive to all the other production in the space is a pretty unique experience, but we love a good challenge and thrive on being able to offer that kind of flexibility.
