Tangerine Manchester
A multi-zone audio and lighting install for Tangerine, a railway-arch food hall and late-night venue in central Manchester, designed by The Want Studios.
Coffee at noon, club at midnight. One install, every mode.
Tangerine is a railway-arch venue in central Manchester that flips from a coffee-and-lunch food hall by day to a live-music and club room by night. Working with venue designers The Want Studios, our installations team delivered the AV end-to-end: a multi-zone Martin Audio installation, a live production rack, and a Chamsys-controlled lighting rig with scene presets for every operating mode.

One room, every mode of operation
The venue
Six kitchens, a stage, and a late licence
Tangerine sits beneath Manchester’s railway arches as a food hall, bar and live venue rolled into one room: six kitchens, a long central bar, a small stage and a dance floor under a pitched timber roof framed in scaffold-and-truss. Throughout the day, it serves as a coffee, lunch, and dinner room. By night, the lights drop, the PA opens up, and the same space carries live music, DJ sets and performances.
Working with The Want Studios on the venue design, our installations team delivered the AV layer end to end: a multi-zone audio system that holds at quiet through service and pushes for late nights, a lighting rig that switches the room’s character through the day, and a live production rack that lets a wide variety of acts plug and play.

One multi-zone audio system, one lighting story
A flexible install that runs itself most of the time
Audio install
Martin Audio CCD across the room, Atlas IED zoning
The headline audio install is built around Martin Audio CCD ceiling and wall-mount loudspeakers, with wall and truss brackets running the room from the kitchens through the bar to the stage end. CCD cabinets and a set of Chauvet fixtures were brought over by the owners from a previous venue and integrated into our new install; not something we’d usually fold into a fresh design, but worth the effort here.
A Powersoft Ottocannali 12K4 DSP eight-channel amplifier drives the speaker network, with an Atlas IED AZM8 audio processor and C-ZSV EU wall panel handling zone routing and front-of-house control. Two Drawmer SL22 limiters sit at the output to protect the system at late-night levels.

Live production rack
An Allen & Heath SQ Rack, ready for touring acts
Touring artists plug into an Allen & Heath SQ Rack mixing system in a wall-mount rack with patch bay and router, sized for everything from a singer with a backing track to a small band on the stage. Mic stock covers vocals and drums with a selection of Shure SM58s, Audix D6, Sennheiser e904s and e908b condensers, with BSS AR133 DI boxes for instruments.
The DJ position carries two Pioneer DJ CDJ-3000X players and a DJM-A9. Monitor positions run Yamaha DHR12M and DHR10 actives, with four Fischer in-ear sticks for IEM use. RF is on Sennheiser EW-D digital and G4 IEM systems with combined antennas.

Lighting
A Chamsys-controlled rig that switches the mood, all day
Lighting runs across the Chauvet fixtures carried over from the previous venue, integrated into the new rig and controlled from a Chamsys GN5 ArtNet node driven by a small Windows PC. Scene presets walk the room from morning coffee through evening service to late-night club, so the in-house team can pick a mood without programming.
